Nicholas Ludford's Marian antiphon Ave Maria ancilla trinitatis is one of two antiphons by him known to be on a cantus firmus, the plainchant Inclina cor meum, which it shares with his Mass of the same name (see RCM132) and with his Salve regina (see RCM106). All three works show Ludford's outstanding imagination and ability to control a large musical structure.
