Tractus was commisioned by Project ''96 Churches'' from Copenhagen. In 1996 Copenhagen was the Cultural Capital of Europe. Because of that the organizing committee decide to give commissions to young composers and poets from six European countries, to write a composition - European Requiem. Tractus was the Polish part of that piece. The words were written by a young Polish poet - Marcin Sendecki.
