Daily life and the little dramas constantly enacted in it' are the subject for this quartet. Indeed, the hurrying first movement, 'Moving On', seems to sum up the quality of most people's quotidian experience! But then comes 'Waving', imbuing the unfolding musical narrative with more complex feelings. After the cheerful third movement, 'Strolling', they combine with the opening music of uunrelenting haste to encompass an extended, frantic climax before the music falters to an enigmatic end.
