'This is a demanding piece for 7 flutes which really does need alto and bass flutes for a successful performance. The inclusion of quartertones with the ensuing fingering difficulties, and other extended techniques such as singing and playing and alternative articulations will stretch the group fully, but as with all of Ian's works it is really worth the effort.
