Osbert Mulliner, engaged to Mabel Petherick, finds his dream of happiness shattered when Mabel's former suitor, Bashford Braddock, appears and threatens Osbert with violence should he pursue his wedding plans. Mabel’s uncle, Sir Petherick, threatens equally dire consequences should Osbert attempt to jilt the girl. Osbert’s dilemma is solved when two thieves, intent on robbing his apartment, become involved in an argument and knock one another out. Osbert is credited with this superhuman feat, and Bashford makes a fast exit, leaving Osbert to marry Mabel.
